4th Annual Seed Swap: Free Seeds to Start Your Garden

Seed Swap & Giveaway

Edible Evanston is proud to host our 4th-annual seed swaps and giveaway.

Dozens of vegetable and flower types and hundreds of varieties, including unique heirlooms and locally saved seeds are available for free to encourage people in Evanston to grow their own food and plant for pollinators. (A limit as to the number of seed packets per person will be posted at the event.)

There are two dates, but come early to ensure a full selection of great seeds from our fabulous donors. In addition to generous seed companies and farms, you can donate seeds you grew and saved or seed packets from past years you don't plan to use. Bring seeds with you and we'll let you take more home.

This year we are partnering with
Natural Habitat Evanston and encouraging people to bring seeds gathered from their native plants favored by pollinators to share with others.

Dozens of unique plant varieties are available thanks to the generous donations from seed companies, including Sow True Seed, Scheeper’s Kitchen Garden Seeds, Bounty Beyond Belief, Seed Savers Exchange, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, and farms, including Prairie Wind Family Farm (a Grayslake, IL CSA with a pickup location near Evanston Hospital and Ryan Field) and The Talking Farm in Skokie.

These seeds are also used in our New Gardeners program and for the Eggleston Anniversary Orchard & Food Forest.
