Something green!!

We got our concrete block garden beds on 8/9 thanks to Laura, Elston, Tim, Ken and Rich. Cucumbers seeds went in on 8/9; Spinach, Cilantro, Mixed Green and Green Onion on 8/10. Mini Broccoli, Dill, Thyme, Oakleaf Lettuce and Red Beet seeds got a late start on 8/12. In a mere four days, we saw the Mixed Greens making their debut. Now the race is on!

Our garden is actually a garden: ten days after planting

Ten days after planting, pretty much all the vegetables have sprouted. I'm so pleased because usually I kill all plants. The diakon raddishes show the most growth so far. I've try to water every day (except on the days when it was supposed to rain-- and then it didn't.) Josh and I wanted to name our garden Tatooine both for the nerd-factor and because, you know, land where nothing grows but now we probably should rethink that!

Getting Ready For Our Garden!

3 days to go! Our beds are scheduled to be built on Saturday.  We came home from work  to find bags of seemingly innocent soil on the driveway.  Tommy and I decided to bring them to the back, behind the garage so they would be next to where the beds will be...130 feet away!  I've never been so grateful for a wheelbarrow!  If weight is any indication of richness then we will be blessed! We are even more thankful for the opportunity to be part of this program! More to come!
